  • Australia Grand Tour! Leg 46 - Back In Time

    G'day Pilots!

Lazer's Back In Time HQ has given us a special mission of returning to help out survivors of Cyclone Tracey!

Cyclone Tracey was the most devastating cyclone to ever befall Australia in recorded history. We are being sent back to Christmas Day 1974 to help ferry much needed medical supplies and evacuate civilians from around the Darwin area. To maintain our cover we will be masquerading as bushpilots pressed into service on the regular routes by the Government as it begins to coordinate a response to the disaster.

The recommended aircraft for this flight is Manfred Jahn's C-47. I will be flying the Bush Pilots Airways Livery VH-EDC for personal reasons. It is available from OZx.

Two VA legs will be featured in this flight as part of our cover MSF 2732 and MSF2733.

Flight lead will be in FSX:SE , though if you have an alternative preference of simulator you are more than welcome to follow along in Boxed or P3D.

This will be taking place in FSX:Steam Edition on the AU server. The flight plan can be downloaded from my OneDrive.

    Weather

A word of warning about weather. The Jeppesen loaded weather is nothing even close to correct for this area. In fact it renders operation out of most of the airstrips here not viable. I HIGHLY recommend a weather engine such as Active Sky (payware) or FSrealWX (freeware). Alternatively you can use the Clear Weather function of FSUIPC. If you have any questions about how to do this please ask!

A Special Thank You to OZ Flyer and the VA Management. For all participants of the group flight who lodge PIREPS during this tour a 2x Time Bonus will be applied! Please add "Part of Novawing24's Australia Tour" to your PIREP comments to be eligible.

    Departure Time: 2100AEST (2200AEDT 0600ET 1100Z)

    Recommended Aircraft: Manfred Jahn's C-47 / Default DC-3
Recommended Scenery: Novawing24's AusTour Scenery v4.1 Available Now from my OneDrive.
Recommended Terrain Mesh: Orbx Freeware Australia Holgermesh
Optional: Orbx Australia (Payware) + Ozx Australia (Freeware)

      A late trivia question!

What does Cyclone Tracey and the following have in common?
