  • Basler BT-67 (Official DC-3 Twin-Turbo Modification)

The Basler is officially in production in Oshkosh, WI. In summary, they take the old DC-3's, strip them down, re-skin them, add larger fuel tanks, extend the fuselage, put it all back together, and give it a zero flight hour FAA rating.

I was never a big fan of tail draggers, until I met this beauty. The Basler BT-67 was released to the FSX community around July 2012. Since its initial release, it was tweaked, and now is distributed under the heading add-on "v2". Keep this in mind if you find a non- "v2" version, or if you find skins that may not be "v2" compatible.

Here are some links to the Basler BT-67 v2 for FSX:

SKINS: Note the compatible v2 skins will show v1.7 in the "sim=" line of the aircraft.cfg text add-on file. The ones that say v1.6 have not worked for me:

They also add an extra sixteen inches behind the cockpit for CG reasons. My dad flew these out of Oshkosh in the 80's.
    If it ain't Boeing — I ain't going.

The gunship conversion is pretty dang cool. I wonder how they are working out for the Colombian Air Force.

Definitely a great freeware aircraft! A must have in my opinion, even if you arent all that fond of taildraggers. Here are some screenshots that I took a while ago while flying with Buffalo Virtual Airways.

You sure we are looking at the same one ak? I haven't seen freeware that good since I downloaded the OZx Grumman Goose! Also, where did you get the Buffalo Airways texture?

Looks like they have a Buffalo design packaged with a BT-67 model. I'm not sure if this is the v2 of the BT-67. And I'm not sure how one would go about taking the skin only and slapping on the v2 model to test it out. Here is a link, but again, I'm not sure if this is the original or v2:
            http://flyawaysimulation.com/downloa...s-basler-bt64/

Actually, now that I look at it, they have the plane listed as a BT-64, but describe it as a BT-67 in the page description.

I have been looking for an original Basler airlines paint from the 80's when my dad flew em. Maybe I will try to paint one. It probably won't turn out looking that great.

I think I figured it out. I ended up downloading this. Upon looking at the aircraft.cfg file, it looks like this paint is designed for a model "1.6". In having tested out other paint schemes, I noticed that those listed as "1.6" are not compatible with the BT-67 v2. The ones I have noticed that DO work with the v2 are listed in the airplane.cfg as model "1.7". I will still try and grab the Buffalo paint off of this and attempt to load in into the v2, but I have doubts at this point.

If you figure out how to do a paint for this, give it a whirl. I would be interested in finding out how it is done, and seeing the end result. Do you have any reference pictures of the paint your dad flew?

I downloaded this the other night and gave it a very brief (10 minute) rundown, there are some things that need fixing but other than the few (2-3 bugs) this aircraft is quite easily the best freeware turboprop for both FSX and 2004 combined, very impressed, I would have paid about 15USD for this if sold.

It looks like my original post got deleted, most likely by me on accident when I was trying to update it with additional skin links, etc. I will try to compile the information and post it under my closest post to the start of this thread. I apologize for this error, but I will work on getting it corrected when I have more time.

I am sure I can probably dig some up and scan them. Here is one that he flew that I found online.
