GREAT 48! Grand tour of US states. Week #32: Texas - KIT PLANES!

Through the Lone Star State, at 150 knots in home-built / kit planes. (Cowboy hats optional.)

Week 32: Texas KASL>KTYR>KCRS>KGPM>KSWI FLIGHT PLAN All legs are GPS direct. We'll change course on approach, according to surface wind. Caution: Many masts up to 2560 ft a.s.l. on third leg, 7-10 nmi from KGPM. Download the PLN flight plan file here. Flight plan in tabular form, flight maps and airport diagrams here. CRUISE Speed: 150 knots Altitude: Low VFR (using your judgment to avoid obstacles) AIRCRAFT Home-builts and kit planes only. There are two suitable aircraft on my OneDrive. Bede BD-5, available in the Modern Oddities hangar. Rutan Quickie, also available in the Modern Oddities hangar. Other freeware kit planes may be available from the usual sources. Popular payware: Lancair Legacy, from RealAir Simulations. (US$30.99) Other payware includes: Lancair IV-P and Vans RV-4, from OrbX. (US$14.36 on discount) I will be flying the Bede BD-5, prop version, NOAA livery (see pic at bottom). RESTRICTIONS Kit planes/home-builts only. No concept/fictional aircraft. WHICH VERSION, CLASSIC OR STEAM? We will be using Classic, not Steam. We will continue to use Classic in future weeks for the Great 48! until I can assure pilot security for the flight, at which point we'll include Steam in joint Classic/Steam flights, leaving no one behind! WEATHER Server weather will be set to "fair". Client-side real-weather engines (like Active Sky Next and FSrealWX lite are not recommended this week, due to poor weather forecasts en route. SCENERY Default OK. Highly recommended: FSgenesis US landclass (inexpensive payware). FTX Global 1.30 and Vector 1.20 good but optional (expensive payware). Vector users please see recommendations here. RECOMMENDED SCENERY ADDITIONS FOR FTX GLOBAL USERS You can download the whole series of freeware FTX global airport packs here. Grand Prairie (KGPM) and Sherman (KSWI) are Orbx airports.:eagerness: Looking forward: We will start our week 33 flight through Oklahoma at KGYI, 7 nmi to the northwest of KSWI, due to the paucity of parking spots at KSWI.
