I think IRIS has a free f-5/t38.

So the T-38 was a plane I had recollections of from my youth, so I thought I would look for a free one.

The first one I found was on fs-freeware.net: http://www.fs-freeware.net/downloads...rop-t-38-talon
This one was originally created for FS2002, and converted to FSX. The external model looks great. Internal though has problems. It does have a virtual cockpit, which seems rare for freeware aircraft. But there is a catch. The VC does NOT function except the gear lever. So you are stuck using Shift+X to see your speed and heading.

But like I said the external model is great!

This plane did seem to not love down elevator. You really have to work it to push the nose down.

The next one I tried was the free Iris F-5. I wasn't sure of the difference at first so had to look it up. Basically the same airframe. I noticed though the T-38 has a back seat (for the trainer). As soon as I started up FSX though I got problems. None of the gauges worked, and constantly nagged you about it. So this Virtual Cockpit ended up as useful as the other one.

The rest of the model was just fine. I didn't notice the same issue with the elevator as the T-38.


For multiplayer I think I'd go with the fs-freeware.net one. The Iris one bugged me far too much, and the payware MilViz one is not packet friendly.
